The Meanings of Lexical Items in the Verses of Fasting: a Fundamental PerspectiveIn the name of Allah, may Allah's blessings be on our prophet Mohammed, his family and companions and whoever followed him until the Day of Judgment, having said that, the Glorious Qur'an and the Sunnah are the first two sources of Islamic legislation, and the source of its extraction and reasoning, that's why the fundamentalists took huge care in the study of texts written in Arabic.

The fundamentalists took care in laying fundamental rules based on the comprehension of eloquent Arabic.

This research which is entitled (the Meanings of Lexical Items in the Verses of Fasting: a Fundamental Perspective) deals with some of those fundamental rules from different aspects.

Five verses have been found to be dealing with the same topic which is fasting.

Those verses carry different meanings which might be overlooked by researchers due to their abundance.

In fact, some of these lexical items are polysemous in different aspects thus the miraculous rhetoric of the glorious Quran is clearly shown.

This paper is limited to the fundamental references of these verses without dealing with the different Fiqh aspects of for space limitation.

This paper consists of an introduction and four sections.
