Abstract EN

This research aims at studying the morpheme as it is dealt with by modern linguists, and contrasting it with the term word used by the old linguists and clarifying that what old linguists dealt with has clear reference to the concept of the morpheme.

This study is specifically meant to delimit the concept of the morpheme, clarify its types, divisions, and the different ways of its pronunciation as well as its function as it is one of the basic forms in the structure of linguistic units.

It is regarded as the most important unit of analysis in modern morphology, not only in Arabic but in different languages.

The study is concluded with a practical analysis from the Holly Quran in the light of the theoretical framework of the study
