Abstract EN

The research tried to identify the nature and importance of agricultural digitalization, and it aimed to: identify the farmers’ opinion on the application of the “Smart Farmer Card” and its benefits, identify the extent of farmers’ knowledge of the applications of agricultural digitalization, and identify the farmers’ opinion on the spread of agricultural digitalization applications in the future, from the point of view of vegetable farmers.

The choice was made on Al Sharqiya governorate because it is one of the largest governorates in vegetable cultivation, as well as, because it is one of the first governorate in the digital application “Smart Farmer Card”.

Furthermore, a standardized questionnaire was formulated to conduct a social survey and the research is exploratory given the recent issue of digital transformation in agriculture.

Some of descriptive analysis such as arithmetic mean, median, mode, percentages, and frequencies are used as statistical techniques.

The most important results were represented in the respondents’ good knowledge of the smart farmer card, and their lack of knowledge of the agricultural digital projects conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture.

The results also showed the low knowledge of digital applications in agriculture, and in terms of the spread of these applications from the point of view of vegetable farmers who are knowing some digital applications, the results showed they believe that some of these applications will spread in the future.
