Abstract EN

This research tackles one of the most important administrative titles in the administrative system of the royal harem in ancient Egypt, which is the title of "overseer of the royal harem""imy - r ipt - nswt".

It was attested first in the Old Kingdom till the Late Period.

The main problem of this title is the confusion between scholars concerning its reading, and consequently its interpertation.

The second problem is that this title occured on many monuments and objects, but none of them contained job decription for this title.

This paper explores the holders of this title in ancient Egypt and investigating their other titles which are registered on their monuments beside this title, to know their duties, their position in the palace and the society in this time, to suggest a translation for it and finally to know when this title was a real title for its holders and when not.
