Abstract EN

The current study aimed to reveal the relationship between intellectual security and national belonging among a sample of King Abdulaziz University’s students, and students on international scholarships to the United States (U.S.) and United Kingdom (U.K.).

This study attempts to reveal the differences in the (intellectual security - national belonging) among respondents in the demographic variables of the study (gender – study destination).

The total number of the sample in this study is (306) students, including 200 students from King Abdulaziz University, 67 scholarship students in the U.S., and 39 scholarship students in the U.K.

The researcher designed and used an intellectual security scale, in addition to a national belonging scale designed by Ahmed Hassan (2008) as instruments for conducting the study.

The study results show that there is a statistically significant correlation between intellectual security and national belonging among the sample of the study.

The study results also showed statistically significant differences in the intellectual security and sense of national belonging among the sample of King Abdulaziz University’s students and scholarship students abroad in favor of King Abdulaziz University students (regardless of gender).

There are also statistically significant differences in the intellectual security and sense of national belonging in the sample scholarships students in the U.S.

and U.K.

in favor of the latter.

While the results of the study showed statistically significant differences in intellectual security and national belonging among the sample of King Abdulaziz University’s students in favor of male students.

On the other hand, no statistically significant differences in the intellectual security and sense of national belonging were found among the sample of students on scholarships in the U.S.

The study also found statistically significant differences in the intellectual security in the sample scholarships students in the U.K.

in favor of female students, while no differences were found in between both genders in the sense of national belonging.

The results also showed statistically significant differences in the intellectual security and sense of national belonging between the sample scholarship students abroad and King Abdulaziz University’s students in favor of King Abdulaziz University’s students.

In addition, the study statistically significant differences in the intellectual security between female students in King Abdulaziz University, and female students on scholarships in favor of the latter, while no differences were found between the two in the sense of national belonging.
