كانت رحلة القديس "أوغسطينوس" في بحثه عن السعادة سببا في وجود الفلسفة "الاوغسطينية" ذات الطابع الإفريقي والأثر المسيحي مما تزال مبثوثة في ثنايا الفكر الأوربي دينيا وفلسفيا أو حتى أدبيا.
فانتقل في بحثه عن الحقيقة من الحواس إلى العقل ومنه إلى الوجدان.
