Abstract EN

This research paper aims to highlight the role of smart cities in the safe and sound environmental management of municipal solid waste, in order to achieve environmental sustainability, and achieve sustainable development in its economic dimension by introducing waste into a new life cycle, either by capitalizing or the reuse.

The study proves that the use of information technology in the framework of smart cities facilitates and contributes significantly to waste management operations from collection, to places of treatment and final disposal in a safe manner, which preserves the environment and gives beauty to cities.

Finally, the study concludes by presenting the Emirate of Dubai as a leading Arab model in this field.
