During the first half of the nineteenth century, Algeria witnessed the outbreak of many popular resistances against the French colonialists across the country, perhaps the most prominent of which was the resistance of Emir Abdelkader in the Algerian West from 1832-1847.

whith this research paper, we will try to clarify the efforts of Emir Abdelkader in establishing and organizing the Algérien army to confront the French colonizer.

And the extent to which his goals were acheived in the face of the inequality of the two parties in terms of équipement, and for this, we find the results of the research reached reveal to us the great rôle of Emir Abdelkader in the military field, and his strategy that he followed to confront the colonizer, and all this is due to the extent of the experience and competence of this politician and military leader who played a major rôle in establishing one of the strategic structures of the modern Algérien state, the military institution.
