Abstract EN

In this article, we try to show the conditions of Algerian prisoners in German concentration camps, through archival documents, to know the extent of the suffering they underwent, especially in the period from September 1939 to June 1940, as most of the escapees declared that their living conditions had relatively improved after this period.

This change in German attitudes towards North African prisoners in general and Algerians in particular is due to the psychological warfare launched by the Reich government as part of the propaganda to push them to withdraw from the French army.

Due to German propaganda activity towards Algerian prisoners against French colonial interests in North Africa on the one hand, and because Germany promises the peoples of the region to help them get rid of the French occupation of on the other hand, some of the detainees expressed their willingness to cooperate with the Germans, which scared the colonial security services.

By virtue of their positions and declarations, they are subject to inspections and investigations.
