African countries suffered a lot from the years they spent under the control of Western colonialism, especially as they did not possess the foundations for state building, and they were suffering from political, economic and social backwardness despite their possession of the great natural and human resources that the colonial countries exploited the most horrific exploitation.

Malawi (formerly Nyasaland) is one of the African countries that were subject to British colonialism in its history and that it was made a protectorate from 1891 until its independence in 1964, and throughout the period of its association with the British Crown, it was subjected to important political events and developments that led to its independence.

This research (Political Developments in Malawi for the Period 1891 - 1964) examines the nature of the administration of the Nyasaland Reserve and the position of the African people on the British occupation, as well as the position of Nyasaland during the First World War and the activity of the national movement.

As well as political developments during the Second World War and its aftermath 1939-1953, and Nyasaland's position on the Central African Union 1953-1963 until independence in 1964 .
