Abstract EN

This study aims at clarifying how institutions achieve sustainable environmental and economic development through their adoption and application of ISO standards and to make them operational in economic and environmental considerations within sustainability.

To achieve this goal, the researchers used the inductive method from books, references and both Arabic and foreign studies.

Conducting a field study by designing a questionnaire for the quality sector employees in the Holding Company for Gas.

The sample of the study is at gas business; Gas Holding Company and Egypt Gas Company, where the questionaire was distributed at 44 employees of the quality department.

The study finds a significant relationship between applying specifications of (ISO 14001) and achieving sustainable development from the environmental point of view; there is a significant correlation between applying the ISO 9001 standards and achieving sustainable development in economic terms.

The study recommends increasing attention to the development of systems that help to support and encourage companies that allocate part of their budget to support researches and studies that help developing the products and services of these companies
