Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the skills and level of performance of public security officers and their role in the containment of the civil movement in Jordanian society.

It also highlighted their relationship to preventing the aggravation of this movement before reaching the stage of violence that threatens the stability of the society.

To achieve the objective of the study, a random sample was extracted.

It consisted of (359) persons who participated in the civil movement in the center of Amman (Alhussaini Mosque area).

Participants were taken from different Jordanian governorates.

The questionnaire was used as a tool to collect field data.

Moreover, the study adopted the social survey methodology using random sampling to collect and analyze data using descriptive and indicative statistical methods.

Such methods included ANOVA (one-way analysis of variance) and multiple regression analysis.

The findings of the study showed that the level of skills of the security officers in dealing with the civil movement achieved a medium degree with a general average of (3.29), and that there is a statistically significant effect of these skills in preventing the aggravation of the civil movement.

The findings also showed that the level of perfor.

mance of the security officers related to the duties assigned to them during the civil movement was also of high degree, with a general average of (3.52).

In addition, they showed a statistically significant effect of the level of performance of the duties assigned to the public security officers on the containment of the civil movement.

Based on its findings, the study recommended holding specialized courses for the security officers in the area of necessary skills to deal with the civil movement.
