Abstract EN

Since its inception, the university has been given the task of creating and disseminating knowledge.

However, the consequences of both globalization and information technology have forced the university to adopt the concept of knowledge management.

Our article aims at showing how the Algerian University has managed its knowledge.

For this reason, two indicators have been used: educational memory and research memory.

In our research, we relied on the descriptive approach.

Through analyzing the reality, we concluded that the Algerian university was concerned with managing explicit knowledge at the expense of tacit knowledge, which did not allow it to generate new knowledge.

According to the results, this happened due to the lack of interest in the behavioral aspect of knowledge management, as well as, the weakness of the organizational structure, which did not allow it to intersect knowledge between the individual and the collective level.
