Abstract EN

The study attempts to foresee the future of audiovisual media freedom in Palestine by relying on the attitudes of academics and practitioners towards the reality of audiovisual media freedom in Palestine as a natural extension of the past, and what are the factors affecting it, as well as the factors that affect media performance during the next two decades.

This is to develop a good knowledge map and put forward a future vision by building a set of future scenarios.

The study was applied to an intentional sample of (118) individuals from academics in the faculties and media departments of Palestinian universities, and practitioners in audiovisual media institutions in Palestine, the results indicated that Most of the respondents emphasized that the most important factor affecting the freedom of audiovisual media in Palestine during the next two decades is the change in the political situation in a way that supports freedom of opinion, followed by the harmonization of Palestinian legislation with the international conventions guaranteeing media freedom.

The results indicated that the optimistic scenario (reform - radical transformation) is the most likely scenario for freedom of audiovisual media in Palestine by the year (2041) according to the directions of the researched sample, followed by the reference scenario (stability - the continuation of the situation as it is), and finally the pessimistic scenario (collapse - deterioration).
