Abstract EN

Green banking are financial institutions that employ public money to finance clean energy activates for they are that present long term, low cost financial support for low carbon energy projects.

Therefore, they can establish, encourage and support projects that are approved an approach to environmental protection.

The importance of the study in highlighting the importance of green banking in achieving environment sustainability and its need.

The study aims to identify and know the requirements of green banking in the Iraqi banks within their social responsibilities and the same time to achieve projects, and with a competitive advantage.

To reach that goal a sample was selected from private, governmental, Islamic and foreign banks.

To represent banks operating in Iraq, they used a study questionnaire prepared according to the standards of five court axes which included (32) question the were distributed to sample numbered at (110) employees in (11) banks from the research society.

The study reached several results were Iraqi banks lack the necessary mechanisms to adopt the concept of sustainable environment and applications of green banking and limited the role of the central bank in promoting environmental orientation and support banks matched with the possibility of adoption of these concepts and applications with the possibility of adoption of these concepts and applications with these banks.
