Abstract EN

The problem of the current study is summarized in the answer to the following question: Do students of the Mathematics Department of the College of Education for Pure Sciences and the College of Science at Basra University suffer from mathematics anxiety?.

the study objectives, they were as follows: 1-Measuring math anxiety among university students.

2-Identifying the differences in the degree of mathematics anxiety among students of the Mathematics Department in the College of Education for Pure Sciences and the College of Science at Basra University.

In order to achieve the objectives of the current study, the two researchers built the mathematics anxiety scale on university students based on the behavioral theory, and after extracting the psychometric properties of the scale from the validity and reliability, it was applied to its strength (200) students and by using the statistical bag of social sciences, the response of the sample members was analyzed, where the most prominent results were: 1-Students of the Mathematics Department in the Colleges of Education for Pure Sciences and Science enjoy a high degree of mathematics anxiety.

2-There are no statistically significant differences in mathematics anxiety according to the variable of college, grade and gender.

In light of the results of the current study, the two researchers suggested -The necessity for the counseling units of the university colleges to hold workshops for students on strategies for dealing with test anxiety in general and mathematics anxiety in particular.
