Abstract EN

This research chose indefiniteness to be the subject of the study, as it is one of word images which expresses connotations and capacities that the context calls for and that the meaning requires; because indefiniteness is one of the forms of expression and part of construction of speech used for rhetorical reasons, various connotations, and different purposes that definiteness cannot express.

The research chose Al-Mutanabbi's praise poems to determine the methods of employing this phenomenon and to trace the secrets of its expression; because of Al-Mutanabbi's unique style in choosing vocabulary, his inimitable genius in formulating speech, and his wonderful skill in choosing words as well as his awareness of the aesthetics of the vocabulary and its proper use, so that it comes out in harmony with the purpose of the meaning, until he was characterized by his personal inspiration that distinguished him from others.
