Abstract EN

Marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman.

That is why God Almighty has prescribed marriage for a higher purpose, which is psychological and spiritual stability between the spouses.

However, marriage as a social system has undergone transformations and changes as a result of various factors that in one way or another led to the early marriage of minors to ensure the chastity of the girl and protect her from deviation without taking into account the impact of that unequal relationship between the woman and her husband.

Consequently, the phenomenon of divorce of minors has emerged, which is one of the dangerous social phenomena prevalent in Arab societies, including the community of the Shatt al-Arab city.

The research sheds light on the magnitude of this phenomenon in the city of Shatt al-Arab, with reference to the spatial distribution of the divorce of minors in the city according to its residential neighborhoods.

In addition, the research referred to the most important factors (social, political and economic) that contribute to increase the rate of divorce among minors.

Suggestions were provided to develop the best ways to treat this worsening phenomenon.
