The rice crop is one of the most important cereal crops in the study area because it is related to the concept of food security, and is a source of energy, because it contains many salts, vitamins and minerals.

It is one of the agricultural crops that the residents of the study area practiced cultivating since ancient times and the main food for them.

The rice crop in southern Iraq suffered a major deterioration and decline after it was (142012) dunums for the year 1967, and it decreased to (3854) dunums in 2017, with a change rate of (-97.28).

The salinity of irrigation water and agricultural lands, as well as the draining of the marshes and the lack of government support, which negatively affected the volume of production in the study area.
