Abstract EN

Currently we are witnessing a rapid progress in information technology field: social networking sites and electronic mail are examples of such advancement.

This has given rise to various forms of cyber violation of privacy; this study is intended to assess attitudes of Islamic Jurisprudence (Al Fiqh) as well as UAE and Jordanian laws on this regard.

Comparative analytical approach was used as it was deemed appropriate for the topic of the study.

Study summed up with a number of findings, major among them were the following: Islamic Jurisprudence (Al Fiqh) criminalizes online violation of privacy unless it is intended for the higher interest and that UAE Law criminalized such act and provided for tougher penalties being the first at Arab World level to do so; this has influenced numerous Arab laws.
