Abstract EN

This article explores the historical roots (historical intertexuality) Suad al Sabah adopted and influentially employed in her poetry.

The poetess dedicated her knowledge and experience to express some social and political issues which were a source of concern for her through the invocation of some historical discourses implied by the texts of her poems.

Her poems reveal rich culture and roots deeply-seated in history; as the poems reveal intertexual relations showing her reading of the past and invoking many of its incidents to serve her literary interests.

Similarly, she read the present and utilized it carefully to understand the reality she was living in.
