Abstract EN

This study aims to detect the role of the cultural capital in forming of special cognitive and linguistic skills that have benefited the Saudi female literary women’s profession, as well the role of social capital in achieving that benefit in their literary contribution.

The research used the qualitative approach via in-depth interviews with eleven Saudi female literary women specializing in literary production.

The study has reached several conclusions, most notably: the majority of Saudi female literary women have benefited from their cultural capital whether through family upbringing and developing the sense of knowledge and appreciation of books and library; or through subjective cultural capital throughout the existence and access to these books and references.

In addition, the literary woman’s passion for reading and learning of the new is one of the greatest sources of their cultural capital.

All members of the studied sample agreed on this.

Besides, the acquisition of information related to the literary field was one of the social capital resources for some of them.

Most of the literary women mentioned that social capital did not benefit their reputation, while some others mentioned that it had a role through recommendation or relations with the media.
