Time is a determining factor in life, because it has the ability to change the environment and all its aspects in a way that makes stasis impossible.

Time, thanks to its perpetual movement, constantly provokes life, because each moment instant leads to the next, and each movement carries with it a change.

There is no doubt that the concept of time varies according to the type of study through which it is examined.

Time in astronomical studies has a different denotation from that which we find in philosophical studies, which is also different from that which we find in psychological studies.

In the present research, the concept of narrative time is the one we basically adopt in examining narrative structure in poetry.

We therefore tried to explore the features of narrative time as used by the Andalusian poet Ibn Zaydoon (d.

463 AH) through a reading that lays emphasis on the effect of time in the artistic construction of his poetic texts.

Such construction is reflected in many of his poems, including those describing the events of his emotional and social experiences, where the different aspects of time marvelously combine to achieve artistic and aesthetic effects.
