The phenomenon of random housing is one of the biggest problems that threaten urban development in the city of Mahawil and its negative impact on the dimensions of sustainable development within the municipal boundaries and within the basic design, which witnessed the exacerbation and increase of this phenomenon after 2003, as a result of the accumulation of many reasons (economic, social and environmental) that led to the emergence of this type of housing, in addition to the weak role of regulatory agencies in the city in limiting the occurrence of this type of abuse on state lands and for certain people, the study aims to know the effect of random housing on the dimensions of sustainable urban development and the social dimension was studied as a model to know the extent of the impact of random housing on it, and strive to develop necessary solutions by adopting a sustainable urban development method, and the study conducted a field survey through a questionnaire that was distributed to the original inhabitants of the city in the regular neighborhoods, and found the spread of this phenomenon significantly and affected widely in the standards of urban development, and contributed to impeding the process of urban development through the effects that stood as an obstacle to social sustainability in its various forms, which led to the occurrence of severe problems at the community level in forms general, not just the individual.
