Abstract EN

The current study aimed to determine the prevalence of cybercrimes against Saudi women through new media and the patterns of this type of crimes.

It also examined the relationship between being a victim of each form of cybercrime and the demographic variables as well as personality traits of the victims.

It further sought to identify the differences in personality traits between women who have been victims of cybercrimes and those who have not been exposed to this type of offense.

This study is considered a quantitative research that is based on a social survey method, through the distribution of questionnaires to a sample of 241 Saudi women.

One of the most important findings of this study was that hacking topped the list of the forms of cybercrime practiced against Saudi women through new media.

Sexual crimes occupied the second place, followed by financial crimes, with reputation damage ranking fourth, and stealing of personal information last.

The study concluded that there were no statistically-significant differences regarding being a victim of cybercrime according to either age or educational level variables.

However, there were statistically-significant differences regrading being a victim of such crimes according to marital status, with divorced women being more vulnerable to cybercrime than single or married women.

This study also showed that there were no statistically- significant differences in the openness of personality traits between Saudi women who were victims of cybercrime and those who were not, and there were negative relationships between the openness and conscientiousness personality traits and being a victim of almost all patterns of cybercrime
