Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the perception of athletes in Saudi Arabia towards sports psychology.

The study was applied to athletes from different clubs in Saudi Arabia and included different categories and activities (group games and individual games).

A total of 192 athletes participated in this study, including 126 professionals and seniors, and 66 youth and young athletes.

As for the study tool, the Sport Psychology Attitude Revised (SPA-R), which includes four sub-measures was used in this study.

The results showed that the confidence and trust in sports psychology consultant with an average calculation (27.92) and personal openness with an average calculation (22.35), were the most important considerations for athletes to deal with a sports psychology consultant.

In general, the perception of sports psychology was positive among Saudi athletes.
