Abstract EN

Iraq has suffered from colonial domination for a long time, despite being liberated from colonial domination and gaining political independence, it has not been freed from the economic dependence of developed capitalist countries and international financial institutions, Among the most important manifestations of economic dependency is the distortion and imbalance of the structural structures of the Iraqi economy and its dependence on external loans and grants, which has lost the economy's independence.

As a result of that unequal relationship between the Iraqi economy and international financial institutions (economic dependency), the study will start from the hypothesis that economic dependency has geopolitical effects on the structure and strength of the Iraqi economy.

Its aim is to study the evolution of the economic dependency problem by using quantitative indicators to find out its independence and the degree of its exposure abroad.

In the field of power analysis, the study reached many results that the Iraqi economy that Iraq depends on one commodity is oil, which has lost its independence and made it a dependent economy, so the Iraqi economy is among the economies that suffer from structural distortions and geopolitical weakness.

The study recommended adopting economic strategies and laws that address structural distortions, advance the reality of the Iraqi economy, and head towards a policy aimed at achieving economic independence.
