Water resource in Morocco are currently facing major challenges that affect their quantity and quality, in light of the high demand for water with increasing rates of demographic growth, high consumption rates, growing agricultural activities, intensification of industrial activities, remarkable scarcity of their sources, and increasing pollution of water resources, in addition to Risks and high costs of water resources management due to climate change and variability.

This terrible situation of water dwindling is exacerbated by the rapid climate change and its profound effect on the decrease in precipitation and great variations in its spatial and temporal precipitation, as well as the succession of hydrological droughts and flood periods.
