The scope of state intervention in the management of the national economy expanded during the sixties and seventies in many developing countries in general, and Algeria in particular as a reaction to the colonial role.

As a result, the size of the economic public sector has increased in the stage of the targeted economy, and its inability to achieve economic development, and towards these Negative Aspects of Low Productivity Efficiency in Public Sector Units, it is believed in Algeria that the public sector is becoming too large.

Economic reform in Algeria has taken many paths and directions, from restructuring to privatization, and has become an approach and method that Algeria has adopted, like other developing and developed countries, to get rid of the excessive size of the public sector to achieve economic efficiency in general, and productive efficiency in public sector units in particular.
