Energy is a fundamental factor in the progress and prosperity of peoples and nations, as it is the axis of state sovereignty and its security and economic policy, and Algeria enjoys enormous wealth of oil and gas, which represent an essential energy source for use and consumption on the one hand, and a source of financial revenues spent on development projects on the other hand, and because Oil is a depleted and polluting energy.

It has become imperative for Algeria to prepare for the transition to alternative energies, namely the solar energy that the desert abounds in, in order to achieve sustainable development to protect the environment and to provide energy resources for future generations, and to avoid economic crises associated with changes in oil prices.
