English Abstract

The research aims to know: The effect of Gallin’s strategy on reading comprehension and expressive performance of first intermediate grade students.

- There is no statistically significant difference at the level of (0.05) between the average achievement scores of the experimental group students taught with the Gallin strategy and the average achievement scores of the control group taught by the usual method of reading comprehension test.

- There is no statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the average scores of the experimental group students taught with the mind maps strategy and the average scores of the control group taught in the usual way in the expressive performance test.

The researcher chose the semi-experimental design with partial control (an experimental group and a control group) with a post-test, and the research sample was chosen from students of (medium horizons) first intermediate grade in the General Directorate of Education in Baghdad Rusafa III, and it reached (73) students, and the researcher prepared an achievement test For reading comprehension, it consisted of (30) and the title of the expressive performance test (fruitful reading) was chosen.

He prepared a test and the psychometric properties of the two tests were calculated.

The data was processed using appropriate statistical methods, and it became clear In light of the results that were statistically treated, the results indicated that there is an effect of the Gallin strategy on the reading comprehension and expressive performance of first-grade students, and for the benefit of the experimental group.

A number of recommendations and proposals have been developed.
