The industry in the holy city of Najaf is among the most prominent branches of the economy, as goods and services are produced in it, and it is distinguished from the rest of the other industrial sectors by extracting natural resources and then converting them for productive uses through which raw materials are transferred from one state to another.

Industry was defined as the conversion of organic or inorganic materials using mechanical or chemical processes, whether it was accomplished in a factory, workshop, or home.

The development of industrial facilities in Najaf and the introduction of modern mechanization in the industry led to an increase in the number of industrial establishments in the city, which led to the availability of job opportunities and the increase in the number of workers therein.

Therefore, the development of mechanical industries in Najaf has been reflected on the economic situation of the city, and provided money for the government that were used to import materials from outside Iraq.
