English Abstract

Short stories help students to learn the four skills listening, speaking, reading and writing , more effectively because of the motivational benefit embedded in the stories.

In addition, with short stories, teachers can teach literary, cultural, and higher-order thinking aspects.

Hence, the present study aims at identifying the SHOW strategy on Iraqi EFL intermediate school students’ performance in short story, The sample of the study is the population, which consists of (85) students had chosen randomly from the population .

One group was selected as the experimental group and the other as the control group.

The control group who is taught short story by following the traditional technique and the Experimental group has been taught according to the SHOW strategy.

An achievement test has been constructed whose psychometric features have been secured .Results show that teaching short story by show strategy in more effective than the traditional one .-
