However, there are some geopolitical challenges facing the energy sector in the Kurdistan Region, which may affect the future of this industry, including the lack of a common policy between the regional government and the central government in Baghdad regarding the management of oil and natural gas resources, and the regional government's policy towards Turkey and Iran.

The study also dealt with the political calculations of regional actors, and the strategic interests of the major powers in the energy industry in the Kurdistan Region.
