The current dissertation aims to identify: 1-The open-mindedness of university students.2-Differences of statistical significance in open-mindedness in the current research sample according to the variables (sex, specialization and the stage).

In order to achieve the objectives of this research, the researcher used the descriptive method of correlative studies, where the research society was determined for students of the University of Diyala for the academic year 2016-2017, representing (13) Scientific and Humanities Colleges with humanitarian and scientific specialties, about (4) Colleges with a human specialization and (9) Colleges with a scientific specialization.

The sample consisted of (600 male and female students) and were chosen equally by (300) of the Scientific specialties and (300) of Humanitarian specialties.

To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher adopted and built three categories: the measure of open-mindedness.

The measure of "open-mindedness" was obtained by researchers Stamovich and West (1997).

In English, after the translation, its psychometric properties were verified through the validity of (the translation, the apparent honesty, the honesty of the building and its discrimination index).

The stability correlation according to Alpha Cronbach was (0.80), and the final measurement was made up of (40) items.

The research reached the following results: 1-Low open-mindedness of university students.

conclusions, including: 1-Low open-mindedness among university students.

They tend to self-biases and accept ideas from others.

They do not accept new ideas and do not like to think about them.

They tend to fan their opinions and beliefs.

Most distinguished recommendations include: The demand of the teachers to prepare the teaching items depends on the development of open-mindedness in the undergraduate and post-graduate levels of education because of their role in the development of the process of thinking in the human because of its great importance in the formation of knowledge knowledgeable building to be appropriate with the changes of the current era.
