Abstract EN

Using smart phones apps induced positive changes in transportation sector; it reduced consuming time and effort for the travellers.

This study aims to evaluate the socio-economic effects on drivers and travellers with Uber, and to define the travellers' characteristics and their views toward Uber.

The study used descriptive analysis and behavioral approach, and the researchers distributed two forms the first was distributed for 200 drivers and the second was distributed for 300 travellers.

Study results were similar to results of studies conducted in other countries, the results show: half of drivers were less than 30 years, unmarried and considered their work with Uber as secondary job.

Most of drivers complain from travellers' behavior and attitude.

While more than half of travellers were in the age 15-29 years, female were mostly students and males were employees.

Most of them do not own a car.

The travellers mentioned that Uber answers their request quicker than the yellow taxi but it costs them higher.
