Abstract EN

The current research paper aims at measuring shopping addiction in students of the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance and identifying gender-related differences.

The two researchers used the descriptive method and the research sample consisted of (80) female and male students from the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance from all four classes.

The research tools were represented by a questionnaire to determine the reasons of over-shopping without any reasonable need for it.

The items of the questionnaire were then displayed on experts in the field of educational sciences and psychological counseling to determine how related they are to the research objectives.

The data were then statistically analysed using (SOPS).

The results of the study revealed some statistically significant differences in the level of shopping addiction in the research sample.There was also a significant gender-related difference favouring females.

The researchers highly recommend the necessity of conducting symposiums and workshops to discuss this addiction phenomenon and its effect on the student, the family and the society.
