Identify both psychological rigidity and the trend towards competition among athletes in Iraq.

- Identify the relationship between psychological rigidity and the trend towards competition among athletes in Iraq.

The researchers used the descriptive method in the survey method for its suitability and the nature of the research.

The research community included athletics players participating in the Iraqi athletics clubs and institutions championship for men, youth and young men and both sexes for the sports season (2018 - 2019) and the number (905) players, as they represent (52) A club.

As for the research sample, it reached (109) players, distributed among (18) clubs belonging to eight governorates, by (1-5) clubs for each governorate, and with regard to the application sample of (40) players, by (4) clubs.

They represent (36, 69% ) of the research sample, they were chosen deliberately because they represent the southern region, the northern region, and the middle Euphrates region among the clubs participating in the athletics championships in Iraq, The psychological hardness measures prepared by (Farhan, 2017), and the competition orientation measure prepared by (Allawi, 1998), which the researchers adopted as a tool for data collection, and the scientific steps and procedures were adopted in the validity and consistency of the two measures, and the researchers used the statistical bag SPSS )) To obtain the results (mean, standard deviation, Pearson's simple correlation coefficient, Spearman-Brown equation, T-test, percentage, hypothesis), the researchers reached a number of conclusions as follows: - Athletics in Iraq are distinguished for having solidity and a competitive approach.

- There is a significant correlation between psychological rigidity and competition orientation in the research sample.
