This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a counseling program in developing self-understanding among adolescent students in the early stage، The sample consisted of (30) students who obtained the lowest marks in the study scale (self-understanding)، They were distributed randomly into two groups: an experimental person to which the counseling program was applied، and a control who was not exposed to the extension program.
As each group included (15) students from the early adolescence stage at Bab Amman Secondary School for Boys in Ain Al-Basha District، and the study relied on the quasi-experimental approach.
In order to know the effectiveness of the counseling program among the students of the study sample، the researcher prepared a self - understanding scale، and after verifying its validity and reliability، it was applied to the two groups before and after the implementation of the counseling program.
The results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.05) between the average responses of the members of the experimental and control groups on the scale of self understanding with its total significance and its sub-dimensions in favor of the experimental Person to which the extension program was applied، and as the results showed using the (t) test for the associated samples.
The experimental Person retained the effectiveness of the counseling program after (3) weeks of its application.
The study recommended the development of targeted counseling programs to deal effectively with various psychological disorders.
