Abstract EN

The issue of climate change, the problem of desertification and its impact on the rural environment has become a top priority in issues of concern to the international community.

In the first part of the study climate change is defined , together with its causes and results, the general effects of climate change, the most important of which is desertification, drought, human, legal and economic.

The second part of the study tackles the effects of desertification on the Mauritanian countryside ,such as deterioration of forest and vegetation resources, biodiversity, land degradation and poor living conditions of the population due to low rural productivity.

This study examines the main causes of climate change in Mauritania and its impact on the natural and rural environment and aims to highlight the most important effects on the ecological life in Mauritania.

In order to achieve these objectives, the study followed a series of approaches such as descriptive, analytical and comparative methods.

The study is based on information from the field firstly, and then on official and non-official reports issued by the authorities responsible for environment and sustainable development in Mauritania.

The study is expected to present valuable findings and recommendations.
