Abstract EN

Al- Karramiyya is a group of Islamic Discourse Scholars (mutakallimeen).

It appeared in the first half of the third century AH.

Founded by Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Karram al-Sijistani, an Ajami man who believed in Islam.

He grew up Pretending asceticism and seeking knowledge, so his followers deceived by him wherever he was.

He was imprisoned more than once because of his views.

When he gets free or moves to a new place his followers were increased, so many students were taught by him and became then a groups founders, and his ideas remained in the places that he stayed in.

His heritage and writings were burned, except what historians have mentioned.

As summary for the believes of this group: they give the term “Body” to “God Almighty”, and prove the attributes, direction and vision to him, and they said that faith is only the tongue saying, and the doer the great sin is a believer and has complete faith.

In addition, they have sayings in prophethood, message, imamate, and caliphate.

Karramiyya group has been divided into three groups, from which other groups have branched out, for a total of eight.
