The Kurdish issue is an important issue in the history of modern Iraq, especially after the revolution of July 14, 1958, after which the Kurds played a more effective role in proving their national existence by recognizing them as a basic nationality alongside Arab nationalism and their incorporation into the Iraqi constitution.

And the use of the official language in Kurdish as well as Arabic as a language of instruction in the Kurdish areas, as well as political rights, including the right to participate in the Iraqi government.

On the other hand, the Kurds stopped by the government and supported all the movement's coups against the government, especially the Shawaf movement in 1959 and the Sheikh Rashid Lolan movement in 1959.
