Trade unions in Turkey faced real obstacles throughout history, as the Turkish government did not allow the establishment of trade unions until 1952 when the first union federation was established in Turkey, and these unions faced multiple obstacles, as they were not allowed to organize strikes or engage in collective negotiations.

The workers and public officials had different trade union legislation, and Turkish workers were covered by different laws.

Trade unions and trade unions were established in the beginning mainly in the public sector, most of them in cities where economic institutions are concentrated, and the labor movements in Turkey have an effective role in fueling the political situation by holding strikes and demands to improve the level of wages and secure the rights of workers, and the Turkish national security had a role in limiting Among the basic trade union activities such as the right to strike through restrictions and arrest campaigns against trade union leaders.
