English Abstract

This study tackles the image of Iraq in the travel of Abd Allāh Ibn al-Ṣabbāḥ al-Andalusi by studying the social and economic life, codified in his book “Nasabat al-akhbār wa-tadhkirat al-akhyār”, which appeared after traveling to Iraq in the second half of the 8th century A.

The researcher tries to analyze some social and economic images.

Taking into consideration that the period under study lacks enough historical studies that show social and economic conditions in Iraq after years of occupation by different nations.

The significance of this travel springs from the author's observations and historical information of Iraq and its different cities.

The author stayed in there for several years, experiencing daily life of Iraqis, customs, social traditions, economic transactions, markets, and commercial exchange with other nations.
