The Ethiopian-Somali conflict is one of the most complex and longest-lived conflicts on the African continent.

Many local and regional factors have contributed to the escalation of tensions between Somalia and Ethiopia and the outbreak of fierce war in the Horn of Africa (1977-1978).

The military confrontation between Somalia and Ethiopia in the last months of 1977 over the Ogaden desert is a new phenomenon that the African continent has never experienced before.

Ethiopia sent all its strength by sending military equipment and experts, while Somalia was behind some Arab state led by Egypt.

The study showed the extent of the confusion and severe division that befell the Arab countries during the Ogaden war, as the Arwere divided on the issue, although it is an Arab-African issue.
