Abstract EN
The Jews has a passive perspective towards the Arabic character, which is associated with their own religious beliefs.
All the texts in the Old testament or the Talmud degrade Arwhich influenced greatly the Jewish thought in general and the Hebrew literature in particular.
Thus, most of the Jewish literary writers employ their own talents to serve the Zionist movement in attacking the Arabic character.
The nationalities were originated and influenced by the European Enlightenment.
The Jews seeked their own nationality, thus they originated the Jewish nationality which is adapted by Zionism.
The Zionist political activity and conferences turned to be more practical.
As such, the Jewish literature selected a stereotyping image for the Arthat cannot be understood away from the circumstances that reflect the situation.
Thus, the second immigration 1904-1914 introduced certain values that reject the exile and encourage the immigration and changes in the Palestinian character who is portrayed as the new Hebrew by the first immigration; the one who is evolved and developed in the novels and works of the pioneers.
Thus, the characteristics of the Arabic character in the Hebrew literature can be noted as follows: 1.
The focus on the character's appearance rather than his essence via portraying him with the worst features.2.
Highlighting the so-called negative features of the eastern world like illiteracy, primitivism, uncivilization, forced marriage and associating these with Islam to underestimate it.3.
The Arab hatred to the Jews as an enemy waiting the change to avenge and kill them.4.
Putting the Arabic and Jewish characters in contrast by ascribing features of power and courage to the Jew and features of weakness and cowardice to the Arab.
There are many studies dealt with the Arabic character in the modern Hebrew literature.
However, the current study aims at investigating the external image of the Arabic character and then investigating the inner-side of this character as it is represented in the Hebrew literature as well as introducing a historical survey to the development of this character in the Hebrew literature.
