Abstract EN

This study deals with the foundations and the methods of the Jordanian legislator in choosing the electoral systems that were embraced since the beginning of the establishment of Jordan in (1928) to the year (2016).

The study shows the main features of these systems, which have been affected significantly by political factors.

In particular, the study shows accurately the contents of the electoral law of the new Council of Representatives No.

(6) for the year (2016), which adopted the open proportional lists system.

The study showed the details of this system and clarified its exact particles.

The study reached many the results, the most important of which, was the adoption by the Jordanian legislator of many electoral systems over the past decades which varied in the extant to which the Jordanian voter was able to choose his freedom.

Many recommendations were also provided, the most important of which was the need for the Jordanian legislator to cancel the quota of women and minorities according to article 6 of the Jordanian constitution no 1952 and chief equality among the citizens in light of the absence of the constitution from the representation of the minorities regardless of race, ethnicity, and origin.
