Abstract EN

After European researchers flocked to the Arab countries, the idea of studying Arabic literature has become a scientific phenomenon, which formed the beginning of what was called (Orientalism).

This initiated a mutual influence between the European and the Arab researchers.

This mutual influence has left its evident impact on the Arab linguists.

In this context, the present research deals with how Dr.

Abd al-Rahman Ayyub was influenced by these European researchers, in matters such as: questioning the beginnings of language studies that preceded AL-Khalil and Sibawayh, and the influence of the Indian linguistic thinking and others.

The research ultimately provides a response to his views.
