Abstract EN

The Representation of Identity in Al-Maqamat Al-ZainiyyahIn its reading to heritage texts, the critical vision works on two axles.

The first axle discovers the general frame of the formal construction and it specifies the focal issues in heritage texts depending on Al-Maqamat Al-Zainiyyah of Ibn Al-Saikal Al-Jezri (died 701 Hijri) as a base for studying, analysis and criticism.

The second axle tackles the issue of the studied text as it comes to how to apply the questions of identity as they are an ingredient which belongs to the philosophical and social system of postmodernism.

The research aims to deconstruct the text in question and re-reads its ingredients by specifying the concepts which pertain to identity and fictional identity as they represent an epistemological incarnation to specify the ingredients of the ego identity, the borrowed self, the identity of the convenient grotesque other and the identity of places.

The research attempts to re-read the heritage in the light of modern methodology and to activate the mechanisms of critical speech for discovering the reservoirs of richness in old Arabic fiction
