Abstract EN

This study goes beyond the usual formal literature to investigate the sayings of the marginalized in the Abbasid era, where power and its conditions are rhetorically portrayed, as clearly appears in the literature of anecdotes.

These anecdotes, even if they often come casually in the context of various serious topics, are presented by Al-Tawhidi without a clear intention that links them to the context of those topics, except for recreation and contrast, as he declares.

However, the nature of the topics dealt with and the form of the approach adopted by Al-Tawhidi are indicative of other things: such anecdotes are pivotal to the writing architecture, even if he tries to conceal their intent by narrating and relating them to the marginalized who represent the superficial in popular culture.

These anecdotes have monitored the authority in its public and private spaces as well as its different relationships and portrayed it, among other things, from the perspective and discourse of the lower classes.
